Hong Kong’s latest waterfront icon, a giant ferris wheel dubbed the Hong Kong Observation Wheel, has officially launched.
Located by the Central pier on Hong Kong Island, the 60-metre icon features 42 luxury gondolas and offers panoramic views of Hong Kong’s famed Victoria Harbour.
Hong Kong Observation Wheel is estimated to hold 1 million passengers a year. Each of its gondola holds eight passengers and is equipped with high-tech safety and super-fast Wi-Fi communication systems.
Visitors will be able to ride the Hong Kong Observation Wheel between 11am-11pm throughout the year for the 15-20 minute journey. Surrounded by public transport facilities including the Star ferry and Hong Kong MTR Station, the icon is readily accessible to all visitors. It also has a safe and convenient taxi and private car drop-off zone and it is barrier-free for visitors with disabilities.
For those who wish to enjoy the Hong Kong Observation Wheel’s sparkling view, it will cost a pocket-friendly HK$100 (A$15/NZ$17) for adults and HK$70 (A$11/NZ$12) for persons with disability, children under 12 years, full-time students, and senior citizens.
