Sunshine Coast gets cuddly with Australia Zoo

Sunshine Coast Destination (SCDL) and Australia Zoo have teamed up to launch a 'deeper level' of promotion to entice more domestic and international visitors.

Sunshine Coast Destination (SCDL) and Australia Zoo have teamed up to launch a ‘deeper level’ of promotion to entice more domestic and international visitors.

Launched yesterday, the partnership will see the two work together on new marketing activities and push the key message that the Sunshine Coast is easily accessible – located only an hour’s drive from Brisbane Airport.

As a first step, a co-branded billboard was unveiled, targeting the 75,000 vehicles that travel to and from the Brisbane Domestic and International Airports daily.

The billboard will combine the promotion of Australia Zoo with 13 different events in the Sunshine Coast region.

SCDL CEO Simon Ambrose said the relationship will support the region’s vital $2.5 billion tourism industry.

“Australians and international travelers generally know about the Sunshine Coast’s beaches and increasingly the Hinterland areas, but we also have a dynamic range of attractions that make the region ideal for tourists and conference groups.”

In welcoming the agreement, Terri Irwin, Owner of Australia Zoo said partnership was important to better showcase the “spectacular Sunshine Coast and the many exciting events visitors can experience here”.

“From the breathtaking natural beauty, to our incredible wildlife, sport, and fabulous festivals, we are proud to be sharing this innovative marketing strategy with SCDL.”
