And the winner is … Sydney – again! As if Sydney didn’t already have enough to brag about, the city has been named the best cruise destination in Australia and New Zealand.
The accolade was given to the Harbour City at the first ever Cruisers’ Choice Destination Awards, the world’s leading cruise review website. And it’s been welcomed with open arms by the community, including the local government:

The award, which is based on the reviews and opinions of passengers that visited Sydney on a cruise in the past year, re-confirms Sydney’s position on the cruise circuit, with Destination NSW Chief Executive Officer, Sandra Chipchase, paying tribute to the city’s inherent beauty, excellent food and shopping options, as well as its function as gateway to the rest of this great vast land.

But even being as great as it is, Sydney is not a city to rest on its laurels, with a slate of new developments currently in the works that will make the Harbour City even more attractive to visitors.
For example, the iconic Sydney Opera House will undergo a $202M upgrade to ensure its status as Australia’s greatest performing arts centre, whilst the city’s many hotels, such as the Radison Blu Plaza Sydney, undergo exciting new re-designs.

The inaugural Cruisers’ Choice Destination Awards name the best destinations of the year, across 15 regions around the world, based entirely on reviews posted to the CruiseCritic website. The Awards highlight and celebrate cruise destinations that have been highly rated by travellers, offering inspiration and guidance to cruise planners around the world.
