Thailand Digital Arrival Card starts 1 May for non-Thai tourists. Here’s what you need to know

From 1 May 2025, all international tourists, including Australians, entering Thailand by air, land or sea must complete the new Thailand Digital Arrival Card online before arrival to streamline entry processes and boost tourism.

From 1 May 2025, all international tourists, including Australians, entering Thailand by air, land or sea must complete the new Thailand Digital Arrival Card online before arrival to streamline entry processes and boost tourism.

Previously, Aussies were able to enter Thailand visa-free for stays of up to 60 days (extended from 30 days in 2024).

The digital move sees Thailand adopt a paperless immigration system, replacing the TM6 arrival form to upgrade its travel infrastructure for a more seamless and efficient experience for visitors to the popular destination.

It also delays plans to introduce a 300-baht (around AUD$14) tourist tax and launch an electronic travel authorisation (ETA) system to pre-screen visa-free travellers.

The rollout of the electronic system does away with the traditional disembarkation card to align the immigration process with smart travel tech and global trends.

The Thailand Digital Arrival Card (TDAC) will allow travellers to stay for 90 days but will not be allowed to work.

Travellers need to submit their TDAC within three days before arrival in Thailand. The platform is already live, however, the TDAC will only be mandatory from 1 May 2025.

Last year, Thailand introduced a series of immigration changes designed to increase tourism, including expanding visa-exempt countries and doubling stays to 60 days.
