The Australian shire of Bland (no jokes – this is a real place) is setting the internet on fire with its stirring plea to bring some flavoursome food to the Shire that, well, frankly, isn’t bland.
The video features Bland Shire General Manager and new Youtube sensation Ray Smith who says…
“We’re Bland, a small regional Australian Shire located approximately 600km between Melbourne and Sydney, and we’re in need of some help,
Being so far from the major food capitals of this country means we miss out on a lot of flavour.
Our community is on a mission to change this, so we’re asking Australians to put their heads together and help us find a solution. Lobby your local restaurants, ask the corner café for their secret recipes, ask the internet or heck, even mail us your favourite bottle of hot sauce – anything that might give us the kick in the right direction.
We’re kind of like folk. We’re generous, we’re kind-hearted, we love a cold beer and a good yarn. But we’re missing one thing that you people have and that’s that extra flavour.”
The ad was created by the people who do the Rivers ads and also features a number of interesting locals also keen to find some flavour.
Here’s Ray’s captivating message to the world…
“We like to say we might be bland but we’re far from Boring,” says Ray Smith.
