With a population of 90,000 and a stunning coastal location less than one hour’s drive from Perth, WA’s largest regional city Mandurah has been named Australia’s Top Tourism Town 2023 along with consecutive state award wins.
Winning the WA Top Tourism Town Award in 2022 and 2023, Mayor Rhys Williams said he could not be prouder to see Mandurah named National Top Tourism Town.
“Tourism isn’t just about welcoming visitors to share in our unique offerings; it’s about growing our businesses, employing our local people in meaningful jobs and celebrating our natural assets,” he said.
He called out the successful partnership of the City of Mandurah and Visit Mandurah and the addition of artist Thomas Dambo Giants of Mandurah outdoor exhibition to its tourism offering.
The Pirate Cruise in Mandurah is also a 2023 TripAdvisor top pick for family-friendly experiences.
“Our local hospitality and tourism operators have done some incredible work to further enhance our tourism experiences, propelling us from strength to strength,” he said.
WA was also a major award winner in other categories in the ATIC Top Tourism Town accolades announced on 14 September 2023.
The Small Tourism Town Award was taken out by Queenstown in Tasmania and the Tiny Tourism Town Award was awarded to Dwellingup in WA.
Rosanna Angus was also named the Top Tour Guide for her work sharing stories of Bardi Jawi culture and the Dreaming stories connected to Sunday Island, off the coast of the Kimberley region in WA.
