Air New Zealand teams up with Tassie for Auckland-Hobart route relaunch & 48-hour sale

The Air New Zealand x Tourism Tasmania co-op campaign highlights the upcoming recommencement of the carrier’s nonstop seasonal Auckland-Hobart route from October 2024 – March 2025 with $100 off one-way airfares for 48 hours only.

The omnichannel ad campaign will run in both markets until 18 August 2024 and is aimed at enticing Kiwis to visit Tasmania with direct connections during the spring and summer months.

Advertising promoting Tasmanian experiences and events will be showcased on media channels, including online video, out-of-home (OOH), social, digital display, press and Tourism Tasmania and Air New Zealand channels.

The brand awareness campaign kicks off with a limited-time Air New Zealand flight sale with $100 off one-way Economy fares ex Auckland (AKL) to Hobart (HBA) until 13 August 2024.

The sale fares are valid for travel between 14 October – 8 December 2024, 13-27 January 2025 and 28 January – 3 April 2025.

New Zealand is a crucial visitor market for the state, welcoming 17,000 Kiwi visitors last year with the latest data showing NZ visitors had the highest average spend of any international visitor in 2023.

Tourism Tasmania CEO Sarah Clark said: “The direct Auckland to Hobart service, first introduced in 2021, has proven popular with thousands of travellers, including many Tasmanians. We are excited to see it recommencing from October.” 

Tourism Tasmania 2024 Off Season campaign a success

It comes as Tourism Tasmania wraps its annual Off Season campaign in August 2024 with almost 744,000 website visits to dedicated pages to date – up 147 per cent on its 2023 campaign numbers.

This year’s Off Season campaign urged mainland Australians to become ‘winter people’ and chill out in Tasmania with more than 500 wintry experiences from 445-plus businesses statewide highlighted.

The Off Season offers and promotional activity will conclude on 31 August 2024.
