Artwork, music, lights, and ideas prove to be a huge draw card for Australian tourism, as Vivid Sydney visitation breaks a record.

 

According to NSW Minister for Trade, Tourism and Major Events some 1.7 million people attended the Vivid Sydney festival in 2015.

This was an increase of 19 percent on the record of 1.43 million last year.

Some 36,500 domestic and international travel packages were sold for the event – 26,000 were specifically sold to overseas visitors.

China was one of the largest purchases for the packages, buying around 11,000. Other key increases include a 39 percent rise in packages from Korea, 57 percent more from Singapore and travel packages from the USA were up 64 percent.

This year Destination NSW hosted the largest Vivid Sydney trade visit program to date, with 121 participants from eight markets including China, Taiwan, Japan, India, Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore and New Zealand.

A record 96 international media from 10 countries were also hosted during Vivid Sydney to report on the event, sharing their experiences of the festival with the world.
