DestinationNSW has unveiled what Winter visitors to Sydney can expect to see at Vivid Sydney this year and it has us all giddy for 22 May to come around.

The show, which runs from 8 June will once again transform the city and harbour into an incredible light show.

However, this year is going to completely outshine previous years as more suburbs and attractions get involved.

Running for 18 nights, the 2015 program expands into new city precincts Chatswood and Central Park.

For the first time, Chatswood CBD will be transformed into an aquatic wonderland, with light displays featuring sea creatures, an aquarium and a 3D animation.

Favourite locations in Circular Quay, Walsh Bay, Martin Place, and Darling Harbour will light up once again, with over 60 light installations and projections.

There’ll also be more water theatre shows featuring lasers and fire, plus new and expanded programs at Pyrmont & The Star and the University of Sydney.

The sandstone canvases of Customs House and the Museum of Contemporary Art Australia (MCA) will also return with spectacular new 3D projections.

And Vivid Ideas introduces The Game Changers, a new talk series this year headlined by three global influencers: multi Emmy-winning writer Matthew Weiner, series creator and executive producer of Mad Men and former executive producer and writer on The Sopranos; Grammy-winning designer Stefan Sagmeister, whose clients include the Rolling Stones, Lou Reed and the Guggenheim Museum; and entrepreneur and publisher Tyler Brûlé, founder of the world-famous magazines Wallpaper and Monocle.

According to Destination NSW CEO Sandra Chipchase, Vivid Sydney attracted 1.43 million attendees in 2014.

It is the largest festival of its kind in the world.

“We aim to build on the results from last year when more than 20,000 international visitors travelled to Sydney on dedicated Vivid Sydney travel packages.”
