If you’re in Sydney this weekend be sure to check out the Switzerland Village at the BBR Festival and go in the running to win a trip for two to Switzerland.

The three-day festival kicked off today across from Circular Quay with a dozen or so various French-influenced destinations showcasing the best of their food, wine and desserts.

For the first time this year, Switzerland Tourism decided to set up its own little village to entice potential Australian travellers to visit the European destination.

Speaking to KarryOn, Switzerland Tourism’s Director Australia and New Zealand, Mark Wettstein, said the festival is an ideal location to highlight everything Switzerland has to offer.

Those that enter the mini Switzerland will be able to try authentic Swiss cheese and savory.

An award winning pastry chef is on-hand serving her specialty treats and master chefs will present cooking demonstrations of Swiss dishes.

Festival goers can watch cooking demonstrations from Master Chefs such as Chef Felix Halter.

Swiss Chef Felix Halter gave media, including KarryOn, a sneak peek of what festival goers can expect over the weekend. During his private cooking class he showed us how to make Swiss dish Rösti and salmon.

In addition to try and learning to cook Swiss delights, attendees will also have the chance to enter a competition to win a seven-day Magical Switzerland escorted tour.

Attendees simply visit the Switzerland Tourism tent inside the Switzerland Village, fill in the competition form and wait until next week to find out if their heading off the holiday.

According to Wettstein, Australians are in the top ten largest inbound markets for the destination, contributing 300,000 nights last year.
