As Washington, DC gears up to host WorldPride 2025, DC-based Capital Pride Alliance (CPA) and InterPride shared two big bombshells: next year’s theme and an inspiring program led by LGBTQIA+ advocate and Latinx pop queen Shakira.
Washington, DC said ‘The Fabric of Freedom’ theme of unity and global call to action for LGBTQIA+ people and their allies follows the results of the 2024 US election as everyone is invited to the city for WorldPride 2025, which also coincides with 50 years of Pride celebrations in DC.
From 17 May to 8 June, WorldPride 2025 expects three million revellers to touch down in Washington, DC for a vibrant cultural event program to inspire, connect and empower the LGBTQIA+ community and highlight the diversity and inclusivity of the American capital.
Shakira will perform at the Welcome Concert on 31 May and the event also kicks off the inaugural Capital Cup, a WorldPride Sports Festival to unite LGBTQIA+ athletes and leagues in friendly celebration and competition.
The WorldPride Human Rights Conference runs from 4–6 June and culminates with the two-day WorldPride Music Festival: Global Dance Party and free WorldPride Street Festival & Concert followed by the Rally & March and Closing Ceremony on 8 June.

A biennial event, Sydney hosted WorldPride in 2023.
