Drum roll please… Royal Caribbean reveals name & launch of new Icon Class ship

Royal Caribbean International has unveiled the name of its second Icon Class ship and details about its launch.

Royal Caribbean International has unveiled the name of its second Icon Class ship and details about its launch.

With the launch of Royal Caribbean’s first Icon Class vessel – Icon of the Seas – around 100 days away, RCI has named its newest Icon Class vessel Star of the Seas. The new ship will debut in the northern summer of 2025.

The cruise line will release details of the new ship, which is under construction in Finland, in the near future.

With the introduction of the Icon Class vessel, RCI claims it is redefining cruise holidays – from offering exclusive beach retreats and resort escapes to theme park adventures.

“The idea of combining the best of every type of holidays into one ultimate adventure has created more excitement than ever anticipated, and Star of the Seas will be the next bold answer to the record-breaking consumer demand we’ve seen for nearly a year and counting with Icon of the Seas,” Royal Caribbean International President and CEO Michael Bayley.

In October 2022, the first look at Icon and the Icon Class sparked RCI’s single largest booking day and highest volume booking week in the brand’s history.

Consequently, RCI released its 2025-26 Icon holidays three months ahead of schedule.

Among Icon’s highlights will be six record-breaking waterslides at the Thrill Island waterpark, seven pools (one for every day of the week) a stay-all-day neighbourhood for young families and more than 40 wining and dining offerings.

Star will also be RCI’s third liquefied natural gas (LNG) powered vessel.

This month, Royal Caribbean is offering savings to the South Pacific and New Zealand, including up to US$100 onboard credit when you book with your preferred travel agent.

Earlier this year, RCI unveiled details of its Utopia of the Seas experiences, which it says will shake up Caribbean weekend getaways.
