ESCAPING THE COLD: TripAdvisor reveals where Aussies are flocking this Winter

Brr, it’s a bit chilly out isn’t it? The perfect time of year to tempt your clients with a getaway to somewhere sunnier along with the other 67% of Aussies who are planning a holiday this winter.

And where are all these Aussies fleeing to? TripAdvisor’s 2019 Winter Holiday Destination Report has revealed just that based on booking interest.

The number one place Australian’s are heading to overseas this winter is Bali, Indonesia! It’s appeal as a living postcard is as strong as ever as Australians look to soak up the sun on a stretch of fine white sand.

The second most popular winter destination was revealed as London, the UK followed by the bustling metropolis of Singapore.

Sunny Phuket, Thailand came in fourth place followed by the ever-popular getaway island of Oahu, Hawaii.

Those beautiful destinations were followed by Santorini,  Viti Levu Fiji’s largest island, Paris, Rome and New York to round out a top 10.

The report found that one of the main reasons behind Aussies reaching for their passports was to escape the cold (32%), and 48% of those surveyed have plans to visit a beach destination between June to August this year.

The Winter Holiday Destination Report also found that 38% of Aussies are spending more than three weeks jet setting during winter. A great opportunity to sell a longer getaway.

59% of Australian travellers who are travelling between June to August this year are travelling with a partner/spouse/significant other, 20% are travelling with family, 13% solo and 8% with friends.

For those travelling domestically, QLD (43%) and NSW (42%) are the most popular states to explore in the cooler months.
