Fancy a first class flight from Europe? Tropical North QLD is luring workers on Tik Tok

Tropical North Queensland is luring international Working Holiday Makers with a First Class flight from Europe and free tours in a new Tik Tok campaign.

Tropical North Queensland is luring international Working Holiday Makers with a First Class flight from Europe and free tours in a new Tik Tok campaign.

Tourism Tropical North Queensland has launched the $100,000 co-operative First Class to Paradise campaign with youth travel platform Global Work and Travel to target young adults in the United Kingdom, Ireland and Germany interested in working and playing overseas.

Chief Executive Officer Mark Olsen said the campaign would leverage the work by Tourism Australia and Tourism and Events Queensland to revive the Working Holiday Maker market.

“Travellers aged 18 to 30 who sign up for a Working Holiday trip with Global Work and Travel and begin their working holiday in Tropical North Queensland over the next 12 months will receive a free tropical adventure tour valued around $100,” he said.

“One lucky person who registers before July 3 will go into the draw to win a first-class flight with Singapore Airlines to Australia.

“Domestic travel is booming in Tropical North Queensland with a record $2.7 billion expenditure in 2021 and we urgently need more workers as international travellers start to return. Working Holiday Makers were an integral part of our regional community and the tourism workforce before the pandemic.

“Cairns was known as the place where young people could work in paradise, whether it was on a dive boat exploring the Great Barrier Reef or in an eco-lodge in the heart of the world’s oldest rainforest. In between shifts, they would be sunning themselves by the Esplanade Lagoon, catching up with friends from around the world at a nightclub, or heading out for a day of adventure rafting or sky diving.

“Young visitors from the UK and Germany dominated the region’s working holiday market in the past and Global Work and Travel is now seeing strong interest from Ireland. We look forward to welcoming young travellers to Tropical North Queensland where they can become an important part of an exciting industry showcasing two World Heritage areas.”

Global Work and Travel provides a service, currently at no charge, to Australian employers looking for workers by matching them with working holiday makers from around the world.

Global Work and Travel CEO and Co-founder Jürgen Himmelmann said Tropical North Queensland is one of the most popular for their travellers and for good reason.

“This campaign will drive home the multitude of lifestyle benefits you can enjoy in this part of the world,” Mr Himmelmann said.

“We’re committed to doing all we can to help our partner employers with their staffing issues and we feel privileged to be working with Tourism Tropical North Queensland on this important initiative.”
