FCTG Independent takes over ship in first ‘Independent Icons’ event

FCTG Independent has created its own incentive for its top travel advisors … and it looks like a beauty.

FCTG Independent has created its own incentive for its top travel advisors … and it looks like a beauty.

Called “Independent Icons”, the new incentive represents a breakaway from Flight Centre Travel Group’s (FCTG) Global Gathering and will be awarded to the division’s top 50 independent travel advisors.

With independent agents not employed by FCTG, the event gives this part of Flight Centre’s business the chance to mark its successes in a different way.

And unique it will be, with FCTG Independent announcing that it has teamed up with Uniworld to do a complete take over of the river cruise ship SS Beatrice for the event.

The top 10 advisors from Australia, New Zealand, USA, Canada and South Africa will win a spot for themselves and a guest for the event, joining a group of suppliers and “global leaders” on the trip.

From 1-5 November 2023, the Beatrice will sail the Danube River from Budapest to Vienna, with day trips, entertainment, meals and networking all part of the event.

FCTG Independent and Premium Divisions global managing director Danielle Galloway said the division was “excited to partner with Uniworld to host our inaugural Independent Icons global reward trip”.

“We want to reward our incredible network of independent agents with something truly unique, designed just for them,” Galloway said.

“This luxurious experience will give our top performing independent agents the opportunity to connect with a selection of key suppliers as well as other likeminded travel entrepreneurs.

“We are building a strong, global independent network and the reach of our community empowers our agents to expand their own professional networks and continue to thrive as independent business owners.”

“Obvious choice”

Uniworld managing director Australia and New Zealand Alice Ager said, “S.S. Beatrice will be the perfect venue for a 5-star incentive trip, with our offering of all-inclusive meals, beverages and shore excursions, it’s the ideal venue for a large group of discerning travellers”.

“We are all excited for the top achievers to experience our outstanding Uniworld hospitality,” Ager added, calling the growth of FCTG Independent “compelling”.

According to Uniworld CEO Ellen Bettridge, “the destination-inspired S.S. Beatrice was an obvious choice for hosting the very first Independent Icons trip – allowing us to treat FCTG Independent’s top achievers to 5-star dining, immersive shore excursions and the outstanding service they deserve”.

“We are delighted to honour the Independent Icons and celebrate their achievements with this incredible, all-inclusive incentive cruise,” Bettridge said.

In January, FCTG Independent unveiled an incentive that gave travel advisors the chance to win one of fourteen holidays.
