FIRST AT SEA: A digitally enhanced Escape Room is coming to Princess Cruises

Some time has passed since the words 'first at sea' were used to describe a new on board activity, but Princess Cruises just gave us a good reason to use it.

Some time has passed since the words ‘first at sea’ were used to describe a new on board activity, but Princess Cruises just gave us a good reason to use it.

Princess Cruises announced that it will introduce a digitally enhanced Escape Room on two of its ships that’s unlike any in the world.

So, it’s a ‘first at sea’ AND a ‘world first’!

Read on for more on how it’s different from other Escape Room challenges:

IS IT THE FIRST ESCAPE ROOM AT SEA THOUGH?

Nope, it’s not.

However, ‘Phantom Bridge’ (as it’s named) is the first Escape Room at sea to combine digital and physical elements.

Described as the “ultimate immersive escape room”, it’ll make players feel as though they’ve travelled through “time and space”.

“Phantom Bridge… will offer guests the exclusive opportunity to live a real-world, gamified experience.”

Denise Saviss, Princess Cruises Vice President of Entertainment Experience

WHAT MAKES IT SO UNIQUE?

This is actually amazing!

So, players will enter the room and find that it’s actually a ship (ha, ship within a ship). The entire space transforms and responds to guests actions in order to envelop them in the story/game.

If that wasn’t thrilling enough, players can navigate the ‘escape ship’ by turning the wheel and watch as the simulation view changes.

Other exciting features are the use of lighting and sound to create a realistic experience every step of the way.

There’s also 700 outcomes so no ‘escape’ is ever the same, which means guests can play over and over again.

WILL MY CLIENTS WITH KIDS BE ABLE TO PLAY?

Oh yeah, it’s for everyone, according to Princess Cruises.

Guests of all ages, heights and physical abilities are invited to play.

WHERE CAN I CHECK OUT THE ESCAPE ROOM?

Phantom Bridge will make its debut on Sky Princess before appearing on Princess Cruises’ next ship, Enchanted Princess.

The game will be located in the new Experience Centre located on Deck 18 and will be able to accommodate six people at a time.
