Flight Centre Travel Group (FCTG) is going after its online competitors by introducing a new OTA in the Aussie market AND removing online booking fees.

Flight Centre Travel Group (FCTG) is going after its online competitors by introducing a new OTA in the Aussie market AND removing online booking fees.

Managing Director, Graham Turner, said this morning that the online movement was about developing all of Flight Centre’s channels while also delivering cheaper fares where possible.

As part of the digital expansion, FCTG is bringing StudentUniverse.com, an online travel site purchased back in 2015, to Australia with more than 40 airline partners, including Emirates, Singapore Airlines, Virgin Australia and more.

The website will offer exclusive discounts to students along with specials on hotels and tours.

FCTG is also going after the online market by stripping away its online booking fees through flightcentre.com.au.

Graham believes the two moves together will meet the demand for online bookings and interactions, which are experiencing “solid growth”.

“By removing online booking fees from flightcentre.com.au, we are delivering cheaper deals to travellers and ensuring our fares are more affordable than those that are available on many other prominent travel websites.”

Graham Turner, FCTG Managing Director

“StudentUniverse’s Australian launch will give younger travellers the ability to access and verify discounted student and youth deals online, rather than requiring them to book and validate these types of offers in-store.”
