Travellers flying to Vanuatu with My Vanuatu will soon share a perk normally reserved for diplomats and dignitaries – their own fast lane at the airport.
Part of Ignite Travel Group, the online package specialist has launched an Exclusive VIP Airport Priority Lane at Port Vila’s Bauerfield International Airport, streamlining arrivals and departures.
The perk is bundled into every My Vanuatu holiday at no additional cost, with guests able to save up to 45 minutes during busy periods, according to the travel company.
The fast lane idea isn’t new. My Fiji introduced the same service in 2022, with more than 150,000 travellers whisked through immigration and customs since. Now, My Vanuatu hopes to replicate the concept’s success, while expanding its footprint across the South Pacific.

“The launch marks another milestone in My Vanuatu’s mission to make every moment of a guest’s holiday count,” said Rod Carrington, Chief Commercial Officer of My Vanuatu, which is part of Flight Centre Travel Group (FCTG).
“First impressions matter, and we want our guests to start relaxing from the moment they step off the plane.
“With our VIP Airport Priority Lane, travellers can bypass the queues, enjoy a warm My Vanuatu welcome and begin their island escape sooner. This will make up part of their holiday package exclusive to My Vanuatu.”
Vanuatu Tourism Office (VTO) CEO Adela Issachar Aru welcomed the move, pointing to its potential benefits for visitors and locals.

“Vanuatu’s warm hospitality begins at the airport. This new service will streamline arrivals for guests and set the tone for an unforgettable stay,” she said.
“We’re excited to work alongside My Vanuatu to enhance the visitor experience and showcase our beautiful islands to the world.
“We hope this experience creates lasting memories for our visitors and inspires them to return, encouraging even more travel in the years ahead.”

Visitor record
The new initiative comes as a new study by travelinsurance.com.au shows Australian travel to Pacific islands has hit fresh heights, with July setting an all-time monthly record of 71,710 visits.
According to the study, Vanuatu stood out, recording a massive 130 per cent year-on-year surge – its biggest July ever and even higher than pre-pandemic levels. Elsewhere, Samoa also delivered a 52% increase in July visits this year.
“Vanuatu’s 130% July growth shows how Pacific destinations can turn challenges into opportunities,” said Shaun McGowan, CEO of travelinsurance.com.au.
“While Fiji maintains its spot as the clear favourite, we’re seeing Australians actively seek out lesser-travelled gems for more authentic island experiences.”

It’s been a big week for Vanuatu as the country looks to continue its tourism rebound after a massive earthquake in December 2024 effectively paused holidays.
On Monday, VTO also launched a new campaign using Kiwi comic and Have You Been Paying Attention? TV series regular Ray O’Leary to urge Australians to get out of their comfort zones and experience the South Pacific nation’s wild nature.
Last month, the South Pacific nation welcomed its first cruise ships back to Port Vila with the return of Carnival Adventure, followed by Carnival Splendor and Carnival Encounter.
