Fiji Airways has launched a new unbundled fare concept designed to offer economy class passengers increased choice and flexibility.
Called ‘Fly Your Way’, the new concept allows customers to tailor travel to their needs across four categories including Lite, Value, Comfort and Plus.
Each category offers varying degrees of flexibility, but all options include inflight food and beverages, entertainment and carry-on luggage (7kgs).
Value adds include ticket change and cancellation flexibility, checked and priority baggage, seat selection, and more.
Available from 3 March 2023, the Fly Your Way branded fares can be booked through the Fiji Airways website or a travel advisor.
Aussies want more flexibility, study says
The new fare concept was launched as Fiji Airways released the results of a survey that showed Australians valued flexibility to adjust or cancel a ticket above all else.
Commissioned by Fiji Airways, the study revealed that nearly three in five (57 per cent) Aussies wanted more flexibility with fares, with 29 per cent of travellers wanting flexibility to adjust a booking and 28 per cent wanting a refundable ticket.
Polling over 500 Australians, the survey found that one in six (16 per cent) travellers valued checked baggage above all else while one in ten (10 per cent) prioritise the pre-selection of their meals.
Overall, four in five Aussies (79 per cent) said they planned to travel abroad in 2023.
Fiji Airways Managing Director and CEO Andre Viljoen said the Fly Your Way concept was giving customers exactly what they want.
“Our research revealed that having the flexibility to adjust and refund airline tickets is the most important factor for Aussie travellers right now and with our new ‘Fly Your Way’ fare options guests have the option to book increased flexibility when flying with Fiji Airways,” he said.
“Fly Your Way represents the best value for money for all guests whether travelling light for a weekend getaway, or bringing the whole family for an annual holiday.
“Our customers have various needs when they travel whether for business or leisure, and with this new concept, we give them the ability to choose the product that best suits them.”
How Aussies are travelling
According to Viljoen, of the nearly 80 per cent of Australians who intend to travel this year, four in ten (40 per cent) are planning a family holiday, three in ten (29%) are planning a trip with a partner, and one in six (17 per cent) will travel solo.
Meanwhile, one in seven (14 per cent) are planning to travel with a group of friends while one in 12 (8 per cent) will be business travellers.
