It's all about the footy boys this long weekend

Labour Day is here, which means we get one extra day to sleep-in and recover from what is going to be a completely epic long weekend.

Labour Day is here, which means we get one extra day to sleep-in and recover from what is going to be a completely epic long weekend.

Those in Queensland, NSW, ACT and South Australia will have Monday the 5th of October off work (and if you are working hopefully you’re getting time and half).

But no tears please from the guys in WA and Victoria because you’ve all had your Labour Day weekend in March – and besides the Victorians are lucky enough to get today off to join the AFL parade.

And while the extra day to sleep-in is AMAZING, it really is just the cherry on top of what is a jam packed weekend for the country as a whole.

Wind back time

For the non-sport fans this is going to be the most exciting thing to happen this weekend – Daylight Savings starts!

All clocks will turn forward (some manually, others you’ll need to fix yourself) by one hour on Sunday, giving us more time to enjoy the sun over summer #CANTWAIT.

Waking up on Sunday morning is going to be just like this happy GIF above.

The AFL Grand Final

AFLGrandFinal

It’s one of the biggest events of the year for Australian sports – the AFL Grand Final.

In true AFL style, Melbourne hosted its annual AFL Grand Final Parade today with thousands of footy fans rocking up to cheer on the team.

Kicking off at midday, the crowd made its way from the Old Treasury Building through the city. It’s expected to end later today in the afternoon at Yarra Park.

But as today’s celebrations come to a close, players will start prepping themselves for tomorrow’s face-off.

Going head-to-head in tomorrow’s Grand Final are The Hawthorn Hawks vs The West Coast Eagles, with The Hawks vying for a historic fourth consecutive win, while the Eagles are aiming to end the season on a high by taking out the premiership.

Will you be attending or watching the big game?

Meanwhile in NSW, it’s the Broncos vs the Cowboys

If Saturday afternoon’s massive AFL game isn’t enough to quench your thirst for sports then you may want to check out the NRL Grand Final featuring the Broncos and the Cowboys on Sunday night at ANZ Stadium in Sydney.

The all Queensland affair will commence battle from 7.15pm on Sunday in what is a first ever in two teams from up north making the final. No doubt there’ll be plenty of contraband XXXX making its way down the Pacific Highway and into the ground too.

Who’s your pick to win?

Or you could check out Jarryd Hayne

Jarryd Hayne

He’s the only Australian to make a US football team and will also take the field this weekend.

Fans of the legendary sports star can check him out on Sunday as his new team the San Fransisco 49ers take on the Green Bay Packers.

Did you know that after Hayne was selected to play for the San Francisco team bookings from Australia to the Golden Gate city spiked?

Read on.

Even More Rugby…

post116

If you can roll out of bed a little earlier on the Sunday morning (alternative – continue your night out into the morning), catch Australia as they play England in the Rugby World Cup from 6am EST.

The competition is still in the group stages, but if Australia can take this one out it puts them one step ahead to make the semi-finals.

More importantly, three of KarryOn’s picks for the hottest players in this year’s Rugby World Cup will play in the game.

Last chance of the hols to hang out with the fam

family fun header

As the long weekend comes to and end so too do the school holidays.

So parents, it’s your last chance to get in some time with the family before all of you return to the everyday grind.

On a final note, don’t forget there’s double demerits this weekend so stay safe and stay within the speed limit.

What are you looking forward to this weekend?
