They made us laugh, roll our eyes and some even made us cringe. Wrap up your work week with fun travel news Friday – a collection of this week’s weird stories.
1. Delta apologises for breast pump incident
Delta Air Lines has had to come out and apologised after a passenger and nursing mother was prevented for taking her breast pump onboard.
The backlash started when the passenger, Lauren Modeen took to social media to start a Facebook campaign called ‘Boobs on Board’.
The premises of the campaign was to get an answer as to why she was forced to check-in the device.
According to Modeen, the incident occurred when she was boarding Flight 2034 from Atlanta to Minneapolis. Staff made her remove the breast pump, which was packed away in her carry-on along with ice packs for the milk.
Modeen said she told staff that device would be included as a medical device.
However, she was still force to check the device, despite a fellow passenger saying there was plenty of overhead space onboard that the breast pump could have fit in.
Delta Airlines said the company supports breastfeeding women and apologised for the experience, News.com.au reported.
“Breastfeeding and breast pumps are permitted aboard any Delta flight and in Delta ground facilities. We have apologised to the customer for her experience.”

2. #KOExtraMile: This hotel gets ‘Cage’y
Sometimes going the #KOExtraMile just means connecting with customers on their level. Hotel Indigo San Antonio Riverwalk’s staff did just that.
An anonymous lady checked into the Hotel Indigo San Antonio Riverwalk and was greeted by a nice SMS, welcoming her to the hotel and letting her know that if she required any assistance, they would only be one text away. Here’s when she decided to make a little bit of a cheeky request.
She asked for a framed picture of Nicolas Cage on her bed by 6, specifically one from Con Air. Getting what seemed like an automatically generated response, she continued about her day, thinking that her joke was not appreciated.
When she got back to her room, she was surprised to find that something magical had happened in her absence. Ramon had delivered.
3. ‘Our stewardesses are not fat’: Aerolineas Argentinas
Argentinian airline, Aerolineas Argentinas has been praised by the travelling public for defending its flight attendants who were dubbed ‘short’ and ‘fat’ by a recent flyer.
Andres Horacio Pignataro took to the airline’s Facebook to complain about the appearance of air staff, which he considered to be of ‘low quality’.
The post, which was written in Spanish, said female cabin crew used to be ‘tall and nice’ but now the airline ‘only takes short, fat girls’.
Aerolineas responded by posting a list of the requirements for air crew [over 18 years old, Argentinian, speaks English and completed studies – to name a few] followed by the line: ‘your prejudices are not going to fly’.
While Andres’ original post only received about 50 likes, the airline was praised for its positive attitude with 37 replies and over 500 likes.
4. Taiwan gets raunchy with sex-themed park
Looking for something unique to do during next year’s Valentine’s Day? Why not go to a sex-themed park?
Taiwan is currently looking to develop a 37-mile stretch called ‘Romantic Boulevard’, which will not only feature heart-shaped arches but erotic sculptures of humans and animals in, well, sex positions.
The park will be based on an existing sex park in South Korea – ‘Jeju Loveland’.
Taiwan’s tourism leaders are hoping the Boulevard will attract more visitors to the city, while others are concerned it will tarnish local reputation.
What do you think of the potential sex park?
