They made us laugh, roll our eyes and some even made us cringe. Wrap up your work week with fun travel news Friday – a collection of this week’s weird stories.
1. The sexiest accents in the world – do you agree?
Whether its the sultry Spanish spin, the fiery French or exotic Italian – there’s something about a foreign accent that makes a person that much more attractive.
And while we all have our own opinion of which is sexiest, a new study has been conducted to find which accents gets most people going. Let us know if you agree or if your Valentine’s Day date next week has one of these accents.
According to Time Out’s Global Dating Survey, the British accent is the most attractive, with 26.7 percent of people from 24 cities around the world saying it is the most attractive.
2. Icelandair brings the Northern Lights to you!
Want a guaranteed look at the Arctic’s famous aurora borealis or Northern Lights? Then book a flight with Icelandair.
The airline is bringing the natural phenomenon to the air, with a new northern lights-themed plane called ‘Hekla Aurora’ – a traditional Icelandic girl’s name and reference to the incredible lights.
As well as aurora borealis livery (see above) the Boeing 757′s main cabin has been fitted with LED mood lighting that offers a Northern Lights-like show.
Hekla Aurora made her debut this week when she flew from London’s Heathrow to Reykjavik airport. Along the way she flew over Reykjavik’s Hallgrimskirkja church, which was celebrating the annual Winter Lights Festival.
For the moment, the plane will be used on flights to Reykjavik, Amsterdam, Seattle and London.

An airport located in eastern Russia has gained international attention for one really hilarious reason and it has everything to do with a flying bear.
You read right.
Khabarovsk Airport recently unveiled its new logo as part of an airport image redesign.
Since the reveal, the logo has been mocked world wide.
Why?
Because it has a flying bear.

4. The Force is coming to Disney
This one is not just for the kids.
Disney has announced Star Wars characters will onboard one of its cruise ships next year as part of eight special Star Wars-themed sailings.
Held on the 2,500-passenger Disney Fantasy, the seven-night Star Wars Day at Sea voyages will offer guests cruising around the Caribbean meet-and-greet with characters, Star Wars-themed children’s activities, food and beverages you’d expect to see in the movies and special merchandise.
5. Holiday flings, not just for twenty-somethings
Cruise ships aren’t the only place older travellers are jumping beds, they’re doing it while visiting various destinations too.
Findings released by Southern Cross Travel Insurance (SCTI) found one in ten travellers aged 50 and over are finding romance while on holidays.
Eleven percent of those said their holiday lovin’ was with a local while on an overseas trip – that’s the exact same number of younger travellers who said they’d hooked up with a resident from the country they visited.
6. Five things you didn’t know about flying
If you’ve ever wondered how flight attendants handle (or punish) annoying passengers or what they get up to during lay overs – you finally have the answer
News.com.au talked to a former flight attendant, Shawn Kathleen and creator of the website Passenger Shaming as well as scoured the anonymous flight attendant posts on the website to find out what goes on behind the scenes.
The findings are actually quite interesting (and hilarious).
