Hopefully, we’ll all look as good as Globus do at 90. What started with Antonio Mantegazza buying a rowboat to transport travellers across Lake Lugano in Switzerland has blossomed into a global touring giant.
Globus’ recent 90th birthday celebration at National Art School in Sydney, is one that made history come alive.
The event was hosted by Globus’ Brand Ambassador Steve Jacobs who said in his opening address that “travel is the only thing you can buy that makes you richer”.
During the celebrations, Globus’ newly appointed Managing Director Australasia Gai Tyrrell told guests that it was a “wonderful honour” to have the opportunity to run the organisation for the region.
“Tonight is about you. Yes it’s happy birthday to Globus but it’s a thank you to our partners”

“I want to assure you strategically that I will not do anything in a direct sales space. Our focus will absolutely remain with the industry,” she said.
Tyrell also reminded guests that “Globus puts the G in Glamour”. A statement that came as no surprise giving the fabulous spread they put on to celebrate their big milestone.
From a glamorous Whisky Station, French Champagne bar, British Pimms garden party, cheese and antipasto table and French chocolate table, the event was truly spectacular. Oh, and did we mention the photo booth and the funky live band?
Globus makes its clients richer by connecting them with the new world of people, places and experiences.
Now let’s see what this powerful travel company has planned for the next 90 years.
