I’ll drink to that.

The giveaway is designed to offer travellers a taste of the brand’s new range of meet-ups called ‘Locals on Tap’, which cater to the growing ‘Airbnb generation’ by connecting travellers with locals to gain their local knowledge.

Lasting between one to two hours, travellers and locals will walk through a city’s iconic or emerging local neighbourhood. It will be followed by a question and answer session at an independent bar or cafe.

Urban Adventures says what sets ‘Locals on Tap’ from something like a guidebook, apps or websites, is that the knowledge is being offered in real time.

“For over five years we have created day tours that offer experiences travellers may not find in a guidebook.”

Tony Carne, Urban Adventures General Manager

“Locals on Tap will be the next innovation for us, where our guides take a step back and allow for customers to dictate what insider tips and information they really want.

“We want to save people time and money by letting them know what locals know, without having to commit to a set theme or itinerary.”

The tours themselves are aimed at a new breed of travellers who swap hotels for shared spaces, skip tourist sites in favour of local cafes and markets, and want to feel like they’re immersed in the local culture. The line-up is also perfect for people travelling solo, one of the fastest growing trends in travel. The ‘Locals on Tap’ meet-ups will be offered in 50 cities, 365 days a year, with over 150 local guides and city experts.
