Making it easier for travellers to visit its shores, Abu Dhabi has scrapped Covid-19 measures that were required to enter the country.
Effective from 6am (GST) today, travellers will no longer need a PCR test or hold a Green Pass to enjoy the emirate’s experiences, The Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi (DCT Abu Dhabi) announced this morning.
According to DCT Abu Dhabi, visitors will not be required to register their vaccination status with the Federal Authority for Identity and Citizenship (ICA) before arrival and do not need Green Pass status on the AI Hosn app.
The move entirely opens up hotels, restaurants, malls, theme parks and other attractions to travellers.
It also allows visitors to enjoy the Abu Dhabi Calendar, which features 180 music, entertainment, sporting and family events taking place across 100 days.
While immigration measures around Covid-19 have been removed, those who test positive for Covid-19 are still required to isolate for a period of five days.
The announcement comes on the back of the launch of Abu Dhabi’s new tourism campaign ‘Experience Abu Dhabi. Find Your Pace’, which urges guests to experience the emirate in their own way and at their own pace.
To help with this, visitors can try out DCT Abu Dhabi’s Voicemap app, a new initiative that allows tourists and residents to explore Abu Dhabi through self-paced audio tours.
Abu Dhabi airline Etihad Airways flies daily between Australia and the emirate. In June, Etihad relaunched its Stopovers packages, in which travellers can enjoy 40 per cent off Abu Dhabi’s participating 4-star and 5-star hotels.
Earlier this year, acclaimed comedian and actor Kevin Hart was also officially appointed first ‘Chief Island Officer’ of Yas Island Abu Dhabi.
