Happy 21st! Link Travel Group hits membership milestone, farewells “icon”

The Link Travel Group board recently met in Brisbane to mark an “amazing” start-up year and to farewell an inaugural director.

A joint venture between Flight Centre Travel Group, Goldman Group and Spencer Group of Companies, Link Travel Group reported that it now comprised 21 outlets “from some of the country’s most recognisable and successful independent brands”.

Following a “successful” foundation, the organisation also formally farewelled FCTG board member Melanie Waters-Ryan, which aligns with her retirement from Flight Centre on 30 June.

“Having Melanie as part of our inaugural board was a privilege for us all and we were able to tap her extensive experience and knowledge and she played a major part in the group’s rapid expansion and success,” Link Travel Group General Manager Scott Darlow said in praising Waters-Ryan’s contribution to the organisation.

“Mel has been an industry icon for many years, and she has inspired a generation of leaders, especially women, to follow their dreams and reach for the stars.”

The Link Travel Group Advisory Board, which comprises “an incredible group of business leaders from within the Link membership”, also discussed strategies and the future direction of the group.

“Much of the discussion last week focused on travel trends, technology, innovation and sustainability, and the advisory board members sure are living up to the “Link Standard” with what they offer – and they are ensuring Link is ready for the future of the travel,” Darlow said.

“The seven members of the advisory board have so much to offer and we are all looking forward to the eighth and final member joining the advisory board soon, but we just have to wait slightly longer before that person is revealed.”

In May 2023, Link Travel Group celebrated its first birthday, adding two new premium members to the organisation.

More recently, Link signed up two new Western Australian members with Martini Travel Australia Pty Ltd and Travel Associates Australia Pty Ltd (TAA).
