Mark 29 May 2023 in your calendar if you want super cheap flights to HK… In support of Hong Kong Tourism Board’s (HKTB) global ‘Hello Hong Kong’ campaign that invites travellers back to the city post-pandemic, Cathay Pacific will offer Australian travellers a “limited number” of discounted round-trip fares.
Sponsored by Airport Authority Hong Kong (AAHK), the ticket offer forms part of an international initiative to provide 500,000 discounted air tickets to visitors.
Australia’s Cathay members will have exclusive access to 6,020 tickets from 12pm on Monday, 29 May.
HKTB’s ‘Hello Hong Kong’ initiative entices travellers back to the city to try a raft of new experiences on offer.
“Hong Kong is extending its warmest welcome and ready for visitors from Australia to explore this vibrant city once again,” HKTB Director Australia, New Zealand and South Pacific Karen Macmillan said.
“With a diverse culture, unique attractions, exciting nightlife and delicious cuisines, there’s something for every traveller.
“A variety of offers are also available through the launch of HKTB’s global integrated campaign … to make the holiday experience unforgettable for overseas visitors.”
In February 2023, HK authorities announced it would give away 500,000 free flights as part of the global campaign.
The city is also handing out at least 1 million ‘Hong Kong Goodies’ consumption vouchers for use at participating bars, restaurants and hotels, or cash vouchers for transportation, food, retail and attractions.
“As Cathay Pacific and Hong Kong emerge from the past three challenging years and markets begin to recover, we are excited to be rebuilding both our company and our home hub,” Cathay Pacific regional general manager for Southeast Asia and Southwest Pacific Dominic Perret said.

“As a leading airline in the region, we are proud to be part of this campaign to promote Hong Kong in Australia, and we hope our customers experience all the rich offerings that Hong Kong has to offer the moment they board our flights.”
New HKG experience
Meanwhile, AAHK Chief Operation Officer Vivian Cheung said the reopened city was “eager to welcome visitors from different parts of the world”.
“Various new services and facilities are in place at Hong Kong International Airport, and we are looking forward to providing passengers a brand new airport experience,” she remarked.
Earlier this month, Qantas officially flung open the doors to its popular HKG International Lounge, which was closed and renovated during the pandemic.
