Helloworld Travel Hunter Travel Group (HTG) held its annual Newcastle Holiday Expo over the weekend, celebrating 25 years of the b2c event.
For a quarter of a century, the Holiday Expo has gone from strength to strength – and Sunday’s record turn-out at NEX Newcastle was a testament to this, with queues extending hundreds of metres from the venue.
The Newcastle Holiday Expo, a free event, featured nearly 50 exhibitors including cruise lines, airlines, destinations and tour operators.
According to HTG, more than 7,500 travellers attended the event, which featured exclusive deals and over 30 travel presentations across four large theatres.

Bookings were up almost 40 per cent, with Europe, Japan, Canada, Alaska, the Americas, Antarctica, India and Africa the most popular destinations, while cean and river cruising were also highly sought after.
“Our expo offers a strong indication of the year ahead, showcasing the destinations that are capturing travellers’ imaginations, including both newly popular and re-emerging favourites,” HTG CEO Brett Dann said.
Dann also praised the 70-plus HTG team members and over 95 supplier representatives in attendance at the event, which he described as “electric”.

The Travel Corporation (TTC) Sales Manager NSW Alana Hunt thanked and congratulated the HTG Team on the expo.
“The entire event was very well-executed, the venue and the branding/set-up looked incredible, and the atmosphere was spot on!” He remarked.
“It was great to see so many people through the door, with a large portion of the crowd excited and ready to book their next adventure.
“We were able to secure fantastic bookings on the day, and we’re working with the team this week to convert all the enquiry generated.

Along with loads of travel deals, the expo allowed guests to win a Topdeck tour for two people, while those booking a trip at the event had a chance to win a massive $10,000 Qantas Travel Credit prize.
In addition, two attendees won trips with Royal Caribbean and Celebrity Cruises with the support of local radio stations 2HD and NEWFM.
Helloworld Hunter Travel Group was a finalist at the 2024 National Travel Industry Awards (NTIA) in the business category of Most Outstanding Leisure Travel Agency – Multi Location.
