It’s back! Due to popular demand we are relaunching our weekly Hot or Not series, bringing you some of the highs and lows in this week’s travel news headlines.
HOT, HOT, HOT!
1. The note left behind on Virgin everyone is talking about
Travel fans around Australia are on the search for ‘the girl in seat 5F’ – a Virgin Australia passenger that left a sweet note behind in a copy of Voyeur magazine.
The note is making the rounds on the Internet after it was discovered by twitter user Alan Higgins (@athiggy84) earlier this week.
Higgins was flying to the 2015 APCS Summit in Brisbane when he decided to flick through a copy of the inflight magazine.
2. Zombies cruise out to sea
Zombies aren’t just taking over our marathon tracks, they’re also heading out sea.
Setting sail in January next year is the world’s first Walking Dead cruise where fans of the hit TV series can not only converse over their love of the show, but meet some of their favourite actors.
Among the actors is Norman Reedus, who plays the southerner Daryl as well as Chandler Riggs aka Carl and Emily Kinney or Beth.
Makeup artists will also be onboard to assist cruisers in their dream transformation from human to one of the undead.
The cruise will depart from Miami on 15 January and sail to Nassau and the Bahamas on Norwegian Pearl.
3. 8 awesome pics from Flight Centre’s end-of-year celebrations
Flight Centre agents put our weekend celebrations (*cough* TV show marathon) to shame, as hundreds of consultants gathered for their annual end-of-year parties.
Held in different cities across the country, the evenings were organised to commemorate the end of another financial year.
Dressing to the nines, ladies wore glamorous cocktail dresses, sky high eyelashes and nine-inch heels while handsome fellas dusted off the suit jackets and slipped on the ties and bow ties.
NOT, NOT, NOT!
1. Booze-related air rage on the rise
Alcohol and flying is becoming a bit of a dangerous mixture, according to new figures that show disruptive booze-fuelled violence mid-flight is on the rise.
From celebrities to everyday pax, flyers are having trouble keeping it together, with some 40 percent more alcohol-related incidents reported on flights during the first six months of this year alone.
But do these figures really come as a surprise?
2. Disney removes Cosby statue
This story is NOT HOT because of the circumstances that have led to the decision.
A bronze statue of the king of comedy will be removed from a major Disney theme park after this week’s revelation that he had provided drugs to women he wished to bed.
The Bill Cosby artwork will be moved from Hollywood Studios near Orlando, 23 years after it was erected.
Cosby’s piece is among a number of statues of popular entertainers in the park, others include Carol Burnett, Sid Caesar, Mary Tyler Moore, Red Skelton, Danny Thomas, Milton Berle and even Walt Disney.
The statue will removed after the park closes on Tuesday night.
3. Australian couple arrested in Florence for doing ‘it’ in public
An Australian couple have been arrested after allegedly being caught having sex on a bench near Florence’s popular Ponte Vecchio.
The pair are said to have been caught in the act in the Lungarno Torrigiani public gardens at around 11.45pm.
Passerbyers would have been shocked by the sight of the couple who allegedly didn’t mind the attention.
The police were eventually called and the two 23-year-old man and 20-year-old woman have been charged with committing an obscene act in a public space.
JURY IS OUT
Anyone up for nude selfies in Paris?
For the first time ever, all eyes were OFF the Eiffel Tower in Paris when a controversial artist stripped off her clothes for some nude selfies with tourists.
Swiss artist Milo Moiré who is famous for her nude performances, reportedly approached a group of travellers and asked if they would be willing to take a selfie with her, while she posed in the nude.
As you can see, the group of men happily obliged, while others stood by in shock.
It didn’t take too long for police to arrive and escort the artist away for public indecency.
According to her manager, she was taken into custody, but was released the following morning with a warning.
