It’s been a busy two weeks for Australia’s hotel sector with Oaks entering the NT, work commencing on Sofitel Sydney Darling Harbour, Carlson Rezidor opening more rooms and now a new brand.
Luxury hotel group, COMO Hotels and Resorts will make Australia its 13th location across the globe with its first property opening in Perth on 15 October this year.
COMO The Treasury will be located in central Perth where it will tap into the city’s growing business hub.
COMO has spent the last three years revamping the abandoned heritage site situated on Cathedral Avenue into a 48-room luxury hotel with suites averaging at 70 m2 each.
According to the company, the site had remained unused for nearly 20 years prior to 2012.
Once interior redesign is complete, it will bring ‘understated luxury’ to Western Australia with rooms featuring custom-made ‘Grand Posture’ kingsize beds and handcrafted bespoke European furniture.
Large windows will ensure guest accommodations are flooded with natural light. Ensuite bathrooms feature German Kaldewei Duo freestanding oval bathtubs, twin vanities, Travertine stone tiles and heated floors.
Amenities include COMO’s signature aromatherapy-based COMO Shambhala toiletries, minibars and the customary luxuries of a leading-edge hotel, including Wi-Fi technology.
For food and beverages, guests will have access to a fine-dining restaurant on the rooftop with views across the Swan River. The menu features European cuisine with the best of West Australian produce.
There’ll also be a more casual restaurant on the ground-floor serving modern Australian dishes.
All menus will be overseen by COMO’s Australia-born Executive Chef Amanda Gale, together with Hotel Executive Chef Jed Gerrard.
Other facilities will include a spacious lounge bar, meeting rooms, state-of-the-art gym, heated indoor swimming pool and a COMO Shambhala Urban Escape offering holistic wellness therapies along with a wellness centre for yoga and pilates.
