It’s not every day a hotel is described as a city’s ‘attraction’, but that’s apparently what The Savoy Hotel in Melbourne will be once the property completes a multi-million dollar makeover.
The former Vibe Savoy Hotel Melbourne will transform into The Savoy Hotel on Little Collins in October this year when designing company Woods Bagot transforms it into one of the “most glamorous” locations in Victoria’s capital.
Changes inside the TFE Hotels Collection property include plush furnishings inside the 163 guest rooms and white subway tiles and chequerboard black and white tiled floors in each bathroom.
The lobby will give visitors an inviting sense of arrival through warm timbers, smoked mirror, soft furnishings and colourful custom rugs, while the two-level restaurant will complement natural light with chandeliers.
Of course, they aren’t the only changes, but TFE Hotels Chairman Allan Vidor said every adjustment would come together to make The Savoy Hotel an “unbeatable location”.
“This is the most exciting unveil of the year. This magnificent hotel will reclaim its position as a grand hotel of Melbourne, as it was when it opened in 1928.”
