IHG is now the proud owner of one of the world’s leading wellness & sustainability luxury resort brands, Six Senses, after snatching it up for US$300 million (AU$423 million).

The sale of Six Senses Hotels Resorts Spas from Pegasus Capital Advisors was announced this week, and will see IHG takeover the brand’s 16 hotels and resorts, 37 spas and sister companies, Evason and Raison d’Etre.

Neil Jacobs, Chief Executive of Six Senses, said it’s “exciting” to move under the IHG umbrella where the brand will have access to a “wealth of systems and operational excellence to grow… and reach new markets”.

Growth opportunities include the opening of 60 hotels in the next decade such as a resort on the private island of Krabey in Cambodia, five lodges in Bhutan and century-old resorted fort in Rajasthan. The brand is also hoping to open properties in Israel’s Negev Desert, Istanbul and Manhattan’s West Chelsea.

“It’s been a great pleasure to work with Pegasus over the last six years and we would never have reached this milestone without their vision and deep involvement.”
