Marriott International confirmed this week that it’s planning to debut the Westin Hotels & Resorts brand in South Australia with its first Adelaide property opening in 2022.

The Westin Adelaide will be housed in the iconic Adelaide General Post (GPO) building, which is currently undergoing redevelopment in Adelaide’s Central Business District.

Some 285 rooms will be available in the 15-storey tower, each with views of the city skyline, world-renowned Heavenly® Bed amenities and Heavenly® Bath products.

Guests will also have access to a variety of dining options, including an all-day dining restaurant, a tearoom and a specialty bar. There’ll also be the brand’s signature Westin WORKOUT® fitness studio, a resort-style outdoor swimming pool and the Heavenly® Spa by Westin.

Meeting organisers will have be able to book more than 310 square meters of meeting and event space, as well as a 24-hour business center.

Marriott International’s Sean Hunt said the expansion into Adelaide is of strategic importance for the brand as the city is fast-growing in both leisure and business travel.

“Visitor numbers are at a record high… as people seek out the beautiful beaches, world-renowned wineries and beautiful scenery South Australia is famed for.”

Sean Hunt, Marriott International Vice President for Australia, New Zealand & Pacific

The Westin Adelaide is part of Marriott’s plan to double the brand’s footprint in Australia along with other forthcoming properties in Brisbane, Darwin and Coolum on the Sunshine Coast.
