Ardo has opened in Townsville as its first luxury hotel, while Pelorus Private Island will open in early 2024.
Both properties belong to the tourism portfolio of Morris Group, which also owns and operates Northern Escape Collection: boutique Queensland properties of Orpheus Island Lodge and Beechmont Estate in the Pacific Rim; as well as Mt Mulligan Lodge in the Northern Territory. Its Daintree Ecolodge was acquired by Intrepid Travel in August 2023.
About Ardo
The $88-million Ardo has become Townsville’s first luxury hotel and is home to North Queensland’s first infinity hotel rooftop pool.
Guests can take in views of the Coral Sea and Magnetic Island from the pool deck and Ardo’s Rooftop Bar, serving cocktails and tapas bites.
Other dining options will include steak and seafood restaurant, Marmor – also located on the top floor. Meanwhile, Japanese restaurant, Terasu can be found on ground level.
Morris Group Founder and Executive Chairman Chris Morris said Ardo would provide a boost for North Queensland’s tourism industry.
“We know that North Queensland has so much to offer as a destination, so there is huge demand for domestic and international visitors to travel here,” said Chris Morris.
“But what we’ve discovered is there is still a gap in the market for luxury accommodation, so what we’re doing with Ardo is building on what we already do so well, providing another opportunity for high-end experiences in this very special part of the world,” he said.
Open now, Ardo features 132 rooms and suites, most of which enjoy sea views. Premium suites, all positioned on the corners of the hotel, feature expansive balconies with 270 degree views.
Eight of the rooms also include bath tubs on the balconies which face directly out to the Coral Sea and Magnetic Island.
