A new hotel dubbed as the “jewel in the crown of Gold Coast Airport’ is coming to Australia’s favourite coastal escape to serve both visitors and locals with a modern design, sweeping views AND a rooftop bar.

Opening in 2019 will be the yet-to-be named Rydges property, which according to owners, will be a “game changer” for the airport as well as the southern Gold Coast.

In an official statement, Gold Coast Airport’s Chief Executive Chris Mills said in addition to adding convenience for holidaymakers travelling in and out of the city, the new property will enhance the appeal of the airport precinct.

“The hotel is an important part of the airport’s broader property strategy and we expect it will stimulate interest in a number of other exciting projects being considered for the precinct.”

“The location lends itself to a high quality hotel development – we’re a stone’s throw from some of Australia’s best beaches and in the heart of the southern Gold Coast, which is becoming an increasingly popular travel destination.”

Inside the $50 million game-changing property, guests will find 192 rooms and suites across seven storeys with Rydges Dream Beds and views of Kirra beach or the airport runway.

Free wi-fi will be available to all visitors along with access to the resort-style swimming pool, restaurant, viewing deck and rooftop bar.

The property is scheduled to open in 2019 and will compliment new air services into the city such as Tigerair’s new direct Hobart flights.
