PLANT BASED: Inside the world’s first vegan hotel suite

You might have had clients ask if the hotel menu will have vegan options, but have you ever had one ask if the actual the hotel suite they're staying in is vegan too?

You might have had clients ask if the hotel menu will have vegan options, but have you ever had one ask if the actual the hotel suite they’re staying in is vegan too?

If you ever get asked such a question, you can now point them in the direction of the world’s first vegan hotel suite at Hilton’s London Bankside Hotel.

From pillows filled with buckwheat husks, pineapple-leaf furniture and eco-cotton carpets, everything in this room is made from plant based materials, the Daily Mail reported.

To deck out the room, the hotel consulted with The Vegan Society on which vegan-friendly materials to use.

The entire journey to this room is vegan-friendly, from the check-in desk in the lobby upholstered using Piñatex (a leather alternative made from pineapple leaves) and a keycard made from the same material.

Moving inside the room, the bed’s headboard is also made from Piñatex leather and the flooring is made from sustainable Moso Bamboo.

The bathroom amenities are, of course, vegan-friendly too from the brand Prija ginseng and essentials such as the shower cap and nail kit have been made using recycled packaging.

The mini bar is stocked with vegan treats including Graze protein powder, Naked fruit and nut snacks and Deliciously Ella energy balls.

Vegan guests wanting breakfast in bed can order muesli, hummus, potato hash, grilled Portobello mushroom, avocado and scrambled Quorn and quinoa.

General Manager of Hilton London Bankside James B. Clarke said veganism was not just a dining trend, it has become a lifestyle choice for many.

“We want to be the first hotel to be able to offer those who follow the plant-based lifestyle the chance to fully immerse themselves within it from the moment they walk into the hotel,” he said.
