As it approaches the first anniversary of its grand opening as a luxury art hotel, RIMBA Jimbaran Bali by AYANA has been honored with the title of Asia’s Leading New Hotel at the 2014 World Travel Awards. Hailed as ‘the Oscars of the travel industry’, the World Travel Awards is acknowledged across the globe as the ultimate travel accolade, celebrating organisations that push the boundaries of industry excellence. The Asia regional awards ceremony was held on 10 October in New Delhi, India.

RIMBA’s 8 hectares of gardens are located within the 90-hectare grounds of AYANA Resort and Spa on cliffs overlooking Jimbaran Bay, just 10 kilometers from the airport.Uniquely designed as an innovative art hotel that is distinct from AYANA’s classic Balinese style, RIMBAfeatures modern tropical architecture with an earthy, natural theme. Exploring RIMBA is like being in Mother Nature’s own art gallery, with a new surprise around every corner inspired by the surrouding forest after which RIMBA was named. The lobby itself is an art installation, shaped after a ship and with walls made from colorful recycled boat timber, lit by a chandellier made entirely from bamboo. The enormous lobby pond becomes a piece of reflective art each sunset, when the changing colors of the sky dance across the surface and cascade down through the resort via the multi-tiered swimming pools. Each of the 282 guest rooms and suites has its own original artwork handcrafted from driftwood by Balinese artisans, while the restaurants, rooftop bar, public areas and spa feature furnishings, wall art and still lifes made from natural and recycled materials. Everywhere you look, an eclectic array of colorful timbers, glass, and metals such as copper and aluminium have been cleverly restored and crafted to change the perspective of each space, highlighting RIMBA’s edgy yet warm character. It is pure genius, in its most natural form.
