SLEEPING SKY HIGH: Take a look at the world's first hanging lodge in Peru

Imagine spending the night in a transparent capsule, suspended 4oo metres up a mountain in the Sacred Valley of Peru. It sounds completely surreal, but this place actually exists.

Imagine spending the night in a transparent capsule, suspended 4oo metres up a mountain in the Sacred Valley of Peru. It sounds completely surreal, but this place actually exists.

You will find these three hanging lodges known as the Skylodge Adventure Suites, clinging to a mountain face in Cuzco, Peru.

The aluminum and polycarbonate pods give guests the chance to sleep within a completely transparent hanging bedroom, with breathtaking 300-degree views of the valley.

When night falls, guests can soak up an unimaginable stargazing experience (five-star hotels you can’t compete, there are millions here).

Arriving at the incredible accommodation is not for the faint-hearted. To spend a night at the Skylodge, guests must climb 400 metres or hike a trail through zip lines.

If you have the fitness to get up there, your efforts will be well rewarded.

Each suite comes complete with four beds, a dining area, and a private bathroom with an ecological toilet and sink.

The lodges have ventilation ducts and six windows, and the interiors are lit by solar-powered energy so you can read in bed if you can take your eyes off the stars.

A stay here includes breakfast and gourmet dinner with wine, transport from Cuzco and a professional bilingual guide (don’t worry, you don’t have to find the hanging lodge yourself).
