Intrepid Travel records best-ever business results & historic NPS score in 2024

Intrepid Travel racked up two significant achievements in 2024, earning a record-breaking $626 million in revenue – up 17 per cent year-on-year – and its highest-ever customer satisfaction rating of 81.5 for its best all-round performance in the tour company’s 35-year history.

Financial performance

Intrepid reported an underlying EBITDA (earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortisation) of $42.9 million, a YOY increase of 24 per cent.

Intrepid shared its success with staff, rewarding global team members with $12.8 million in cash or shares bonuses and continuing to invest in responsible tourism through its B Corp certification and The Intrepid Foundation

The Intrepid Group Board also approved a dividend payment for shareholders in 2025 for the second consecutive year. In 2024, Intrepid had approximately 555 staff shareholders.

The 2024 business performance shows that despite ongoing cost-of-living pressures globally, travellers continue to invest in experiences and community-focused travel.

Beyond financial performance, Intrepid was re-certified as a B Corp in 2024, achieving its highest score of 102.5 points and placing it among some of the world-leading B Corp businesses.

While 2024 was a year of many highlights, Intrepid noted challenges with its decarbonisation program with plans to increase investment in decarbonisation initiatives to accelerate progress in this area.  

The Intrepid Foundation non-profit also raised more than $2.4 million for local partners in 39 countries.

Intrepid customers are also happier than ever with the company recording a Net Promoter Score (NPS) of 81.5, up 4.5 points compared to 2023. This NPS positions Intrepid in the world-leading category of service brands for customer satisfaction.   

Intrepid achieved an all-time high employee NPS (eNPS) of 64, demonstrating its 3,399 staff and tour leaders are proud to work for the B Corp.

Building towards 2025 growth

With new global expansions planned for 2025, including a new sales and marketing office in Seattle and recent acquisitions in Denmark and Netherlands, Intrepid Travel CEO James Thornton said last year’s business results lay the foundation for its purpose-led growth plans.

“I’m exceptionally proud of our team who are delivering outstanding experiences for our customers and making a positive impact for communities around the world,” he said.

“In 2025, we are committed to building on this success and working closely with our industry partners to show that travel can bring people together, foster greater understanding and create positive impact when done responsibly.

“What we achieved last year is once again proof that it is possible to grow both profit and purpose.”
