The long weekend is officially here but before you slip out of your sleepwear and into a football jersey let KarryOn entertain you with a wrap this week’s top news stories.
Yep, I said football jersey, because this weekend isn’t just about sleeping-in, it’s about uniting the country behind some of the biggest sporting matches this year.
Things kicked off in Melbourne today with the annual AFL Grand Final Parade. Thousands of footy fans lined the city’s street, hyping each other up for tomorrow night’s big between The Hawks and Eagles.

If the big AFL game isn’t enough to quench your thirst for sports, you can catch Australia verse England in the Rugby World Cup on Saturday morning, Jarryd Hayne playing during the day and the Broncos versing the Cowboys on Sunday night.
All this sport may not sound too appealing to the ladies but just think of it like this… thighs, abs and arms #sold.

Football aside, this week has been a big one for cruising as the 2015/16 wave season officially launched. Princess Cruises’ Diamond Princess initiated the peak cruise period when she sailed in on Tuesday, bringing with her thousands of passengers.
This year, some 41 ships are expected to visit the country including several new vessels such as Golden Princess, Legend of the Seas, Costa Luminosa and more.

Also big for cruising was the opening of Norwegian Cruise Line’s first local office, which is being headed by Silversea’s former APAC President, Steve Odell.
The team will be responsible for hyping up the arrival of Norwegian Star in 2016/17 – the first Norwegian Cruise Line ship to sail in local waters.

In aviation, Qatar Airways confirmed that it will launch its first commercial services between Sydney and Doha.
Sydney will be the airline’s third Australian city after Melbourne and Perth.
