Regional Express (Rex) has today announced it will introduce daily flights between Adelaide and Sydney, starting 29th June, with launch fares from $99 each way.
Despite being forced to cut flights on nine regional routes across four states earlier this month due to labour and supply challenges, today’s news positions Rex’s latest offering as the airline’s eighth domestic route, further bolstering its footprint within Australia’s aviation landscape.
And to celebrate, Rex is rolling out tempting launch fares on the new route starting at just $99 each way and Business Class for $399 each way.
Since 31 March 2021, Rex has effectively linked the ‘City of Churches’ with Melbourne, consolidating Adelaide’s position within the airline’s domestic and broad regional network.
Rex Deputy Chairman, the Hon. John Sharp AM, expressed enthusiasm about the airline’s growth trajectory, stating, “This new route brings us one step closer to our ambition to fly between every capital city in Australia. More new routes will be announced shortly.”
Sharp extended his gratitude to Adelaide Airport for their cooperative approach and ongoing support, which played a critical role in the launch of this new route.
Brenton Cox, Managing Director of Adelaide Airport, commended Rex for its continued dedication to the Adelaide market, specifically referencing the airline’s successful introduction of the Adelaide-Melbourne route in 2021. “Rex has been a great supporter of the Adelaide market, including regional links, for many years,” Cox noted.
Echoing Cox’s sentiments, South Australian Minister for Tourism Zoe Bettison lauded Rex’s contribution to the domestic travel industry. “We’re already seeing very strong performance from Adelaide Airport, and we absolutely welcome further commitment from Rex to add extra – and importantly new – flights from Adelaide to Sydney, one of the key aviation partners for South Australia,” she stated.
Rex’s increased domestic coverage has been made feasible through the forthcoming additional lease of two more aircraft, effectively raising the total count of Boeing 737-800NGs within Rex’s domestic fleet to nine.
