Emirates restarts MEL-SIN, SYD-CHC flights and the only A380 Trans-Tasman service

Emirates has reinstated its Melbourne-Singapore and Sydney-Christchurch flights, the latter of which reintroduces the only A380 service between Australia and New Zealand.

Emirates has reinstated its Melbourne-Singapore and Sydney-Christchurch flights, the latter of which reintroduces the only A380 service between Australia and New Zealand.

The Gulf carrier will utilise its Boeing 777-300ER on the newly restored MEL-SIN service, giving passengers the option to fly on to Dubai. Emirates also operates two daily non-stop MEL-DXB services.

Flight EK405 will depart Tullamarine at 0325 and arrive in Changi at 0815. The onward flight will depart Singapore at 0940 and arrive in Dubai at 1300.

The return EK404 flight will depart Dubai at 2115 and arrive in Singapore at 0850. It will then depart SIN at 1025 and touch down in MEL at 2035.

The restart of Sydney-Christchurch services will see Emirates operate its flagship A380 aircraft, and the only super jumbo, on the route.

After flying in from Dubai, flight EK412 will depart SYD at 0845 and arrive in CHC at 1350.

The return service, EK413, will leave Christchurch at 1820 and touch down in Sydney at 1940, before flying on to Dubai at 2145.

“In-demand destinations”

Emirates Divisional Vice President Australasia Barry Brown says the carrier was pleased to be returning to “two new in-demand destinations”.

“Our Melbourne-Singapore-Dubai service will offer travellers a strong connection opportunity between two global travel hubs, providing access to substantial leisure and business activities, plus fantastic onwards links to and through Dubai,” remarked Brown, saying Emirates took “tremendous pride in offering Australians better travel options”.

“We also welcome back our Sydney-Christchurch service, a favourite for travellers between New Zealand and Australia.

“As the only A380 experience between the sister countries across the Trans-Tasman, passengers will be able to take advantage of Emirates’ signature experience, including a superior First and Business Class offering, plus our highly popular Premium Economy cabin, one of the best in the air.”

With the Christchurch service, First Class flyers will be able to enjoy private suites and the only onboard Shower Spa in the sky, while First and Business Class passengers will have access to the A380’s onboard lounge. A Premium Economy service is also available.

Emirates’ three-class B777 jets will offer Melbourne-Singapore (and Dubai) customers private suites in First Class and lie-flat seats in Business Class.

Meanwhile, Emirates will increase flights between Dubai and Brisbane to twice daily from 1 June 2023.

EK will also commence the first-ever A380 services to Indonesia (Bali) on the same day.
