It’s only one month to go until AirAsia begins its new direct flights from Perth to Lombok. Ahead of the launch, AirAsia has opened a new hub on the Indonesian island’s West Nusa Tenggara province.

AirAsia’s Indonesia Chief Executive Officer Dendy Kurniawan said when officiating the hub that it would play a big role in seeing “all-round growth on the island” which suffered from multiple earthquakes last year.

The hub is part of ongoing efforts to support the Indonesian government and the Tourism Ministry’s initiative to develop Lombok as one of “10 new Balis”.

The Airbus A320 aircraft will service the Lombok to Perth route from 9 June as well as connect domestic destinations such as Jakarta, Yogyakarta and Bali in the near future.

Lombok is AirAsia’s fifth hub in Indonesia after Jakarta, Surabaya, Medan and Bali.

AirAsia has also launched a new #PlayYourWay initiative which you can watch above, along with promo fares from Perth to Lombok from as low as $99 and to Bali from $119.
