Look what you made me do: Qantas adds 60+ extra flights for Swifties after 1,500% sales jump

Ahead of Taylor Swift’s 2024 Australian tour, Qantas has added more than 60 services to and from Sydney and Melbourne to cater to fan demand.

Ahead of Taylor Swift’s 2024 Australian tour, Qantas has added more than 60 services to and from Sydney and Melbourne to cater to fan demand.

Qantas reported a 1,500 per cent jump in year-on-year domestic bookings when Taylor Swift pre-sale and general tickets went on sale last week.

The increased Qantas services between 15 – 27 February 2024 will make it easier for interstate and New Zealand Swifties to travel to concerts in Sydney and Melbourne next year.

More than 11,000 additional seats will be available on the new services with some trans-Tasman services upgraded from a 737 to a larger A330 aircraft.

The extra flights include 24 between SYD and MEL, 20 between SYD/MEL and ADL, six services between SYD and PER, and eight between SYD/MEL and Christchurch and Wellington in NZ.

“Our forward bookings showed a swift rise in demand for flights to Sydney and Melbourne next February with a 1,500 per cent increase in domestic bookings last week compared to the same period last year,” a Qantas spokesperson said.

“Our lowest fares have a reputation for selling out quickly, so our advice for any concertgoers is to book as soon as possible.”

Airlines and hotels reported a steep rise in bookings last week after the release of tickets for Swift’s Sydney and Melbourne The Eras concerts.

Air New Zealand also added extra services to transport Kiwi fans to Australia next February.
