Want more Thailand? Sydneysiders and other Aussies can once again fly directly to Bangkok with Thai AirAsia X after the low-cost carrier resumed its service between the NSW and Thai capitals on 1 December.
Operating six times weekly, the returned route makes Thai AirAsia X the only carrier to offer nonstop flights between Sydney Airport and Don Mueang International Airport, the carrier’s Bangkok hub, and low-cost flights to Bangkok from Sydney.
Utilising its A330 aircraft on the route, Thai AirAsia X also offers travellers the chance to connect to domestic destinations within the carrier’s network like Phuket, Krabi and Chiang Mai, as well as popular international ports in Japan, South Korea and China.
“The return of Thai AirAsia X to Sydney comes along with an enhanced flight network within the AirAsia Group that will give travellers the much sought after convenience and seamlessness, especially with our FlyThru connections to over 50 popular destinations,” Thai AirAsia X CEO Tassapon Bijleveld said.

“Guests from Australia will also find the flight schedules between Sydney and Bangkok very favourable and they can choose from six flights per week.
“As a show of appreciation to our valued guests, we are also introducing a new meal set exclusively for our Premium Flatbed guests.
Mr Tassapon flagged India in particular as a growing hotspot for connecting Aussie passengers.
“Operating from Don Mueang greatly enhances connectivity with AirAsia Group’s extensive network, particularly to destinations in India, where there is a strong and growing demand for travel to Australia,” he remarked.
“Our Fly Thru service also provides a hassle-free experience, allowing guests to travel seamlessly as they only need to clear immigration and collect their luggage at their final destination.”

With the announcement, Thai AirAsia X now serves eight key ports from Bangkok, including Tokyo, Osaka, Sapporo, Nagoya (all Japan), Seoul (South Korea), Shanghai (China), New Delhi (India) and now Sydney.
The airline operates three seating zones – premium flatbed, quiet zone and economy – across its Airbus fleet.
In August, AirAsia Indonesia commenced its first service to North Queensland. Read about that here.
More recently, AirAsia X took off to Africa for the first time, launching a new non-stop Kuala Lumpur-Nairobi (Kenya) service in November.
Earlier this year, the carrier’s parent company, AirAsia, stated its intention to create the world’s first global low-cost carrier network.
