If you dared to take a peek under your bed, you’d probably come across a couple of stray socks, a few biscuit crumbs or worse. But an airline ticket?
That’s exactly what John Walker from Greensboro, North Carolina found under his bed, almost two decades after he originally bought the ticket for his brother-in-law’s wedding for US$400 (around AU$500).
He wasn’t able to attend the wedding back in 1999 so had cancelled the journey with United, US website WFMY2 reported.
The airline informing him, by letter, that the paper ticket was non-refundable but that he could keep the credit to use towards a future flight.
But not needing to travel anywhere in the immediate future, he stashed the letter and ticket away, and promptly forgot all about it.
That is until he came across the paperwork tucked away in a box under his bed while having a clear out.
He thought he’d try his luck, contacted the airline via Twitter, and although the offer was no longer valid, they agreed to honour it anyway just because it was so random.
AMAZING!
So where’s he off to? He still hasn’t decided. But, with inflation, he now has around US$570 (around AU$720) to play with.
Where would you go if you suddenly found an unlimited destination airline ticket under your bed?
