Get ready, Australian travel pros! Memphis Tourism is bringing the soulful sounds of Memphis right to Sydney’s doorstep – and you’re invited to the singalong.

The iconic Hi Rhythm Section, featuring Memphis stars including Boo Mitchell, Lina Beach and Jerome Chism, will be lighting up Sydney for an unforgettable one-night-only blues and soul extravaganza on 15 May – just before they hit the stage at this year’s Blues on Broadbeach Festival (16-19 May).

Plus, one lucky attendee will snag a chance to win a trip to the home of blues, soul and rock ‘n’ roll, Memphis, flying event partner United Airlines.

If you want to see (and hear!) what all the fuss is about, the talented line-up will rock Sydney’s Oxford Art Factory (38-46 Oxford Street, Darlinghurst) from 5:45pm to 8:30pm on Wednesday the 15th, before heading to Queensland.

The legendary Hi Rhythm Section has earned 26 gold and platinum records – and let’s not forget Boo Mitchell scored Memphis’ first-ever Record of the Year Grammy for “Uptown Funk” by Mark Ronson and Bruno Mars.

Joining Mitchell on stage will be the amazing singer-songwriter Lina Beach and the soulful Jerome Chism, who will celebrate the 10th anniversary of the hit documentary “Take Me to the River” with some of the film’s iconic songs.

Along with its Sydney event, Memphis Tourism will also be taking its showcase across the Tasman, with the New Zealand travel industry invited to attend a night to remember at Auckland’s Lula Inn (from 5.45pm).

“We simply couldn’t present such a significant travel trade initiative without the support from our valued and long-time partner United Airlines, [escorted touring company] Cosmos, and at the Auckland event, Air New Zealand,” Director of Memphis Tourism Australia and New Zealand Chris Ingram said.

“Memphis Tourism is incredibly excited to bring these outstanding musicians to Australia and New Zealand to give the Australasian travel industry a taste of why thousands from around the world visit the river city every year to experience Memphis’ blues and soul.”
