Qatar Airways is celebrating the return of the Airbus A380 to its Sydney- Doha service. The superjumbo returns in time to meet mounting travel demand in Australia, with a larger seat capacity across two decks.
Sydney is the first southern hemisphere destination to welcome back Qatar Airways’ Airbus A380 since November 2021.
From Thursday, June 2, the Airbus A380 will be operating daily flights on QR909, connecting Australians to Qatar Airways’ global network of over 140 destinations.
The double-decker has eight spacious First-Class seats, 48 fully-flat beds in Business Class, and 461 Economy class seats. The A380 does not feature Qatar Airways’ famous QSuites in Business Class.
First and Business Class passengers can also unwind in the Sanctuary Lounge Bar on the upper deck.
Qatar Airways Vice President of Sales for Southeast Asia, Southwest Pacific & Indian Subcontinent, Jared Lee, said, “We are excited to reinstate the Airbus A380 for our Sydney service. Not only do we continue to rebuild our network after the pandemic, but we are also actively expanding network capacity as global travel restrictions ease.
“This is the latest in a series of enhancements to our Australian network this year, following a recent increase in frequency earlier in March. The Australian market continues to be an area of strong growth for Qatar Airways as we see robust travel demand.”
The national carrier of the State of Qatar is continuing to rebuild its network, which currently stands at over 140 destinations.
With the FIFA World Cup 2022 also being held in Qatar in November, it’s shaping up to be a historical year for Qatar as the Arabian Sea destination further highlights itself as a great value stopover destination.
