Lady Gaga’s MAYHEM Ball tour is set to hit Australian shores in December 2025, with shows locked in for Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne. As fans scramble to snap up tickets, Compare the Market is urging interstate concertgoers to think beyond front-row seats—and consider domestic travel insurance.
With presales already underway, Adrian Taylor, Executive General Manager of General Insurance at Compare the Market, says travellers who secure tickets should also safeguard the rest of their travel investment.
While international travel insurance is often front-of-mind, domestic cover is frequently overlooked. But in a country as vast and unpredictable as Australia, that can be a costly mistake. Weather disruptions, long-distance flights, regional airport delays, and even localised events like bushfires or rail strikes can all throw off travel plans—and leave travellers out of pocket.
What can go wrong before Gaga?
Taylor points to weather disruptions as a key concern.
The 2024 Taylor Swift Eras Tour saw widespread travel delays caused by storms, stranding thousands of interstate fans. With similar risks expected this December, Gaga fans could face the same logistical hurdles.

What domestic travel insurance can (and can’t) cover
Taylor says domestic travel insurance can provide a financial safety net if things go wrong before or during your concert trip.
That may include reimbursement for rebooking missed flights, covering stolen or lost luggage, or helping recover costs for unused accommodation.
But he also cautions that not all policies are created equal.
And while insurance may help with travel hiccups, refunds for cancelled or postponed concerts fall under a different category.
Travel and accommodation costs? Those are generally excluded unless you have coverage.
Key takeaways for Gaga travellers
Compare the Market recommends these steps for fans travelling to Lady Gaga’s MAYHEM Ball concerts:
- Purchase domestic travel insurance as soon as you secure tickets or book accommodation.
- Be aware that domestic policies don’t include medical coverage. Medicare or private health insurance applies instead.
- Check age limits on policies, especially when buying tickets for older travellers.
- Review your policy for benefit inclusions, add-on options, exclusions, sub-limits and conditions.

KARRYON UNPACKS: Big concerts mean big travel—and a big insurance gap. Many Aussies skip domestic cover, but in a country this vast, that can be a costly mistake. Agents can step in to remind clients that flights get cancelled, luggage gets lost, and stadium tours don’t come cheap.
