What is the Qantas Distribution Platform (QDP)?

The Qantas Distribution Platform or QDP will enhance airline retailing, booking, and servicing capabilities via Qantas channel partners. The platform has been built to present agents with richer content and information and enable them to deliver a more personalised experience to mutual customers.

Not surprisingly, our National carrier is excited about just how much it’s going to help travel agents!

So what does it mean for agents? The QDP has been built to ultimately enhance the information presented to agents and customers that is relevant to the customer’s journey. Agents & their customers who use enabled QDP channel partners can engage with richer content including things like images of cabins and meals, in-flight inclusions such as Wifi, Qantas Frequent Flyer information, and the ability to book extras such as extra legroom seating.

Put simply, it makes it even easier for agents to sell Qantas, and here’s 3 reasons why:

 

1. IT’LL HELP AGENTS PRESENT THE MOST RELEVANT OFFER TO THEIR CUSTOMERS

BIG NEWS: Qantas is, in fact, the first Australian Airline to take advantage of IATA’s NDC.

Jargon alert… The QDP utilises IATA’s New Distribution Capability (NDC) standard which has emerged as the industry standard on which leading airlines are evolving their digital capabilities.  It has been developed in partnership with leading travel technology company Farelogix Inc.

Being able to recognise mutual customer preferences and provide an offer which is relevant to them, means agents will be able to deliver enriched, personalised experiences to their customers.

 

2. YOU CAN TAILOR-MAKE TRAVEL FOR YOUR CLIENTS

The new QDP delivers richer Qantas content to agents’ fingertips, meaning agents, using information such as Frequent Flyer tier status, can present tailored offers at the point of sale including special fare conditions, seat maps & baggage allowances.

An easier booking = a happier client. Job done.

 

3. IT’LL MAKE CONSULTING EVEN EASIER

The QDP will make consulting easier by providing you with new and more product information and imagery, branded fare rules, and by reducing the risk of agency debit memos (ADMs) for incorrectly constructed fares.

With the QDP improving the functionality in agent channels and more closely aligning them with capabilities currently available via Qantas.com, you will be able to provide more seamless customer service, make more informed choices for your clients and help reduce the risk of them being disappointed with their trip.
